Lot 10d: YHE-04 Yhé – The Heron
Among the Tukano groups, who observed the Yhé constellation, herons' feathers are used in ceremonial ornaments. There are several versions of the story behind the constellation. Still, one of them says that thousands of years ago, a group of Tukanos were looking for birds to make headgear from their feathers. After searching high and low without being satisfied, they finally found a perfect heron. This heron wasn't ordinary, though – it was the most beautiful in the world, the "King of Herons" – it became a constellation, and its feathers spread all over the world.
